Giants-Eagles
Fly Eagles Fly. It must be November because Donovan McNabb looks good. Donovan is one of just 4 players to ever throw for 30,000 yards and 200 touchdowns, and rush for 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns. Who are the other 3? Do the names John Elway, Steve Young, and Fran Tarkenton ring a bell? McNabb spread the ball
to speedy receivers DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin en route to a 40-17 win over the Giants.
What’s wrong with the Giants? Does Eli look like a quarterback who deserves a $100 million contract? It doesn’t to me. It looks like Plaxico Burress is missed. The Giants aren’t the same without Plax and on a side note I think it’s major BS that Plax is in jail. He didn’t hurt anybody(other than himself), he didn’t kill anybody(Stallworth), he should still be playing right now.
Tune in Sunday night as Dallas and Philadelphia will battle for top dog in the NFC East. Get yo popcorn ready, oh wait he’s in Buffalo now.
Browns-Bears
All I can say is thank God this game wasn’t televised. I’m not even going to waste my time to tell you what’s wrong with Cleveland. There are college quarterbacks who are playing better than Derek Anderson right now. But is Anderson really to blame? Eric Mangenius, the Cleveland head coach, seems to think it’s his way or the highway. It might be the highway for Mangini this week since Cleveland’s on a bye. I would be sick right if I was an owner of this team. Tell me your offense doesn’t need Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow. Now do it with a straight-face. Bears won the game, no the Browns lost the game 30-6. If Jay Cutler is a franchise quarterback, he needs to start playing better.
Broncos-Ravens
Hey Broncos fans, I have good news and I have bad news. Bad news first? You won’t be going undefeated this season. You ready for the good news? It seems as though you have already won your division with the lack of talent of the hopeless Chiefs and Raiders and the ball of talent and no results that is the San Diego Chargers. Good game here, did anybody see the hit Ed Reed laid on Knoshown Moreno? Ouch. Joe Flacco is the real deal folks. The Ravens must be concerned about the health of Haloti Ngata’s ankle. Ngata left the game and didn’t return. Ngata gives them a rare blend of size and power to keep offensive linemen off of Ray Lewis. Both of these teams should be in the playoffs.
Texans-Bills
Ryan freakin Moats. Who you say? 126 yards and 3 touchdowns off the bench I say. Is this the year the Texans finally make the play-offs? Schaub is playing at a high level and factor in Andre Johnson and you have yourself an offense in this league. Texans won 31-10 but nobody in the Texans organization is celebrating right now. The Texans lost Owen Daniels for the season with a knee injury. Sad to see folks, Daniels was on his way to becoming one of the better tight ends in the NFL. Buffalo, just release TO because you’re not going anywhere and it’s too cold in Buffalo for TO to workout in his parking lot.
Seahawks-Cowboys
Well bless Jerry Jones heart, he got rid of TO and the Cowboys are winning. It must not be December yet as Tony Romo continues to produce at a high-level and put points on that million billion dollar scoreboard in Dallas. Dallas won the game 38-17. Hey Seahawks, usually when you sign a big name free agent wide receiver you get him the ball. TJ Housh is not a happy camper in Seattle right now. Maybe Starbucks can name a coffee after TJ to turn his spirits up. With the win Dallas moves to 5-2 and goes to Philadelphia where another 5-2 team sits ready to fight for the lead in the NFC East. This should be the game of the week folks.
Dolphins-Jets
Anybody else sick of Rex Ryan yet? Did you really say you’d rather be in your locker room after the game as opposed to the Dolphins locker room? Hey Rex, the Dolphins beat you. Yeah, I’ll give you that your offense and your defense outplayed the Dolphins but you gave up two 100 yard kickoff returns. If your daddy Buddy was on the Jets sideline Sunday, he would’ve been throwing haymakers left and right. Way to totally redeem yourself Lloyd, I mean Tedd Ginn Jr. A week after going to the infamous Parcells doghouse, Ginn finds himself a productive member of the team again. The Dolphins won 30-25 with a quarterback that threw for 112 yards. Poor Mark Sanchez who had a great game ends up going home a loser. The loss of massive NT Kris Jenkins hurts the Jets chances of making the playoffs this year.
49ers-Colts
I must be out of it today. Did the 49ers actually hold Peyton Manning without a touchdown pass Sunday? The 49ers put up a battle for the undefeated Colts but fell short 18-14. Fantasy owners don’t go throwing Peyton on the trading block just because he went a week without a touchdown pass. Manning still threw for 347 yards and most importantly got his team a W. I’ll tell you what league fans, if you get a chance to watch the 49ers anytime, watch Pat Willis. He is the best defensive player in the NFL, yeah I said it. Alex Smith is looking good and the 49ers are 3-4. I believe they pass the Cardinals(4-3) at some point this season and win the NFC West.
Rams-Lions
The Rams win! Theeeee Rams win! Congrats coach Spags on your first win. Relax Rams fans, you have a great coach who will turn this ship around. The Rams have the most underrated player in the NFL right now in Steven Jackson. This guy would be a household name if he was on a better team. There is no running back in the NFL with Jackson’s blend of size(6′1 240) and speed. Jackson took a 20 yard run to the house to give the Rams a 17-10 win. I see some good young talent on both of these rosters and their fans need to be patient.
Raiders-Chargers
Lights out! Shawne Merriman recorded his first sack of the season. It’s About Time. He didn’t stop there. He ended up with 2 sacks. Merriman is such a talented player who just falls short of unreachable expectations from the Chargers front office and fans. Philip Rivers threw for 249 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers 24-16 over da Raidasssss. JaMarcus Russell continues to struggle but who wouldn’t in that offense? Al Davis, please give up the reigns, you need somebody in there who can build a football team bottom to top. Raider fans relax on the JaMarcus hatred because I seriously doubt Peyton Manning could win games in Oakland.
Jaguars-Titans
Dear Bud Adams, good call on Vince Young. Adams, the owner of the Titans, rallied for Vince Young to start and he got his wish. More importantly he got a 30-13 win. Vince is never going to be a drop-back franchise quarterback, however, he still needs to start because he is a winner. He has won at every level of football and won’t ever produce eye-popping stats but will do what’s important at the end of the day, win football games. Chris Johnson and Maurice Jones-Drew made fantasy owners very happy this weekend. These are two great running backs and are fun to watch. Hopefully Jacksonville realizes that David Garrard will never lead them to the promise land and find a quarterback this offseason. Indications show that Jacksonville owner Wayne Weaver is absolutely in love with Tim Tebow and will do whatever it takes to land the Heisman winner on draft day.
Vikings-Packers
I’ll admit it was a strange scene watching Brett Favre walk into Green Bay in another uniform. Favre threw 4 touchdown passes to lead the Vikings to a 38-26 win. Ted Thompson is not a happy camper this week. Listen folks, the Vikings are a good team with or without Favre so let’s not make this a Brett Favre beat the Packers kind of deal. The Packers have a mighty fine quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. He is on his way to being an elite player in this league. It would help if the Green Bay offensive line could block ANYONE! Once they get an offensive line, the Packers will consistently compete.
Panthers-Cardinals
The Panthers ran all over the Cardinals on their way to a 34-21 win. Steve Smith finally found the end zone. You have to feel for Steve Smith. If he was a member of the Eagles or Colts he would be having an amazing season. Jake Delhomme is on a steady downward spiral and he is dragging Smith down with him. Speaking of slumping, old quarterbacks, Kurt Warner threw 5 interceptions Sunday. Ouch. The Cardinals better watch out for the 49ers.
Falcons-Saints
The dome was a rockin again in New Orleans Monday night. The Saints beat their division rival Falcons 35-27. New Orleans has a fantastic offense. My only question is their defense. Michael Turner ran all over them. Roddy White had a great game. The Saints will face better defenses in the playoffs and Drew Brees isn’t exactly Tom Brady when it comes to the postseason. Now don’t get me wrong here, the Saints are a good team. With an easy schedule remaining, the Saints have a chance to have an undefeated regular season but I wouldn’t expect them to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
See ya next week.
